Utilities Are Investing In Transmission to Meet Customer Needs

To meet customer needs for safe, reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean electricity, Edison Electric Institute’s member companies continue to invest in an efficient and resilient transmission grid. According to new figures released by EEI, the nation’s investor-owned electric companies invested a record $19.5 billion in electric transmission infrastructure in 2014. EEI members are projected to spend a total of $85 billion (nominal dollars) on transmission projects over the 2015-2018 forecast period, with in-vestment projected to peak in 2016 followed by a general moderation of investment.
