Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas reminded residents planning late summer landscaping projects to call the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators (JULIE) 8-1-1 Hotline at least 48 hours/two business days before digging to prevent injury, outages, or unnecessary damage to underground facilities.
This reminder coincided with National 811 Day on Aug.11, a day that promotes the use of the free service to locate and mark underground utility lines to help prevent serious injury, costly property damage and inconvenient utility service interruptions.
