The House returned to Springfield this week, while the Senate was not scheduled to be in Session. The House was in Session Wednesday and Thursday after canceling their scheduled Friday Session. Friday was the House bill filing deadline for 2015.

While several House committees were scheduled to meet this week, no legislation of significance to the energy industry was considered. Next week, the House Environment Committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday. The House Energy Committee is scheduled to meet next Wednesday, and the Special Committee on Renewable Energy and Sustainability is scheduled for Thursday.
The Senate returns to Springfield next Tuesday. The Senate Environment and Conservation Committee is scheduled to meet next Thursday. At this time, no legislation significant to the utility and electric generation industry has been posted. The Association will continue to monitor committee postings as the schedule develops.
On Thursday, Rep. Larry Walsh (D-Joliet) introduced HB 3293, a proposal to develop a low carbon energy portfolio for Illinois. HB 3293 would require that 70% of the electricity delivered by Ameren and ComEd be backed by low carbon credits procured through the Illinois Power Agency. The measure is an initiative of Exelon Generation and has the support of the Illinois AFL-CIO and the IBEW.
The Illinois Energy Association will be hosting a reception honoring the House Committees next Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Arlington’s. The General Assembly returns to Springfield next Tuesday with the House and Senate in Session Tuesday through Thursday. Both Chambers have completed their bill filings for the year and are now scheduled to move bills through committees over the next four weeks.
