IRPS Announces Series of Webinars

The Institute for Regulatory Policy Studies at Illinois State University has announced a series of monthly free webinars to begin on December 17, 2020.  Other webinars will be held on January 14 and February 11, 2021.  Each webinar will be from 12:00-1:30 Central Time.

New Mexico State’s Center for Public Utilities Offers “The Basics” Training

Current Issues Seminar in New Mexico Cancelled

The annual Current Issues Seminar hosted by the Center for Public Utilities at New Mexico State University that was to be held in the state Capitol of Santa Fe on September 27-30, 2020 has been cancelled.

2020 Virtual AGA Executive Conference

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortu-nately we are unable to meet face-to-face in Da-na Point, California this year, but we are pleased to announce that we will be holding a virtual Ex-ecutive Conference on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 11:00 am - 2:30 pm (ET).
Topics include the upcoming November elec-tions, geopolitical events that could impact the energy utility sector, and innovations that could shape the future business models for utili-ties. Keynotes include Major Garrett, Peter Zei-han, and DOE Secretary, Dan Brouillette.

Austin EEI Convention/Expo Cancelled

This year’s Annual Convention/Expo of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) has been can-celled. The event was scheduled to be held at the JW Marriott Downtown in Austin, Texas from June 7-9.
More than 1,200 top decision-makers of do-mestic and international firm from energy-related fields were scheduled to be on hand to discuss critical industry issues. In addition, attendees would have been able to attend the Expo 2020 Exhibit Hall featuring new products and ser-vices.
Convention 2021 information will be available from EEI later this year.

NARUC Winter Committee Meetings in Washington, DC

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) will hold its Winter Committee Meetings in Washington, DC, from February 9-12, 2020.  State Commissioners and staff members from around the country will meet in various committees and subcommittees with an eye toward developing NARUC policy on several important issues of interest to the regulatory community.

Members of the Illinois Commerce Commission serve on key NARUC policy committees. Policies developed at the Winter Meetings may be acted upon at the organization’s Summer Meetings in Boston.

Energy Association Coordinates Illinois Night Reception

The Illinois Energy Association will coordinate the Illinois Night Cocktail Reception at the 131st Annual Convention of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners in San Antonio, Texas.  The reception will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, at Hotel Palacio del Rio.

Illinois Night provides an opportunity for all convention attendees from the state to get together for a social hour during the four-day convention.

NARUC Annual Convention in San Antonio

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) will hold its Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas, from November 17-20, 2019. Federation Presents Taxpayers’ Annual Tax Conference

The 20th Annual Illinois State & Local Tax Conference will be presented by the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois on Tuesday, September 17 at the Meridian Conference Center in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.  The Conference will last from 8:00a.m. to 4:50p.m.  The conference will focus on technical tax and policy developments in Illinois, plus provide updates to changes occurring in other states.  Speakers are some of the leading Illinois experts on state and local tax issues.  Registration information for the conference can be obtained from the Taxpayers’ Federation at 217-522-6818 or www.taxpayfedil.org.
